Listen to the Dramatic Story Behind a Beloved Christmas Carol

Today we’d like to share with you the tragic but hopeful story behind the Christmas carol “I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day” by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. Justin Taylor told the story on our website in 2014, and it continues to attract new readers each Christmas. On this episode of The Gospel Coalition Podcast, Bernard Howard will read Taylor’s account of the poem’s origin, then Caroline Cobb and Sean Carter will sing it.
